Vidcast Blog

What? We are learning about Vidcasts right now and we are learning how to create them using different tools and resources.  We have learned different options to what we can use vidcasts for.

So What?I dont really think this means much to me right now.  I am having a hard time with this class in trying to figure out ways to incorporate this into a physical education class.  Videos and visual aids can be helpful to some students but I think real learning can take place when they actually participate and demonstrate the actions themselves. We are doing this so we can learn how to bring technology into the classroom and broaden our resources. I think this can only help me by trying to figure out ways to teach differently and mix things up in my lesson plans but I dont think sitting at a computer is beneficial in teaching physical education. Technology is important and ever growing and it is important as teachers to be involved and to expand their ideas and a good way to do that is through technology and through other colleagues.

Now What? For my future students is may be beneficial in the real world when trying to find resources for homework or  just finding information for themselves. This new information definitely builds my knowledge of research and using resources like the internet to help me become a better teacher.I dont know if this will change the type of teacher I will be. I think that it will help me stay organized which can benefit my students. I could give my students a research project on physical activity and they can collaborate using google, so they can accomplish this assignment as a group.  This may benefit me and help me become a future teacher by widening the views of my students with the use of technology.  Technology is growing and will only do so more as time goes on.  Being able to collaborate with my fellow coworkers will definitely help reach and teach better lessons to my students.

Week 5 Reflection Podcasts

What? We just learned UEN and I thought that this website is helpful and has a lot of resources for teachers as well as for students.  We have also learned about podcasts.  I dont see how I am going to be able to use podcasts in my PE class. Maybe I need a little insight on that, but this just doesn't apply to me.  I am willing to learn but some of these tools dont really seem like they can benefit my students in a PE class.
So What?As a teacher, it allows me to find more resources for myself.  I think that these resources that we have been learning about in class can benefit me as a teacher and can help me widen my collection of lesson plan ideas but I dont know how or why I would make my PE students use these resources.We are learning about podcasts and websites because it helps teachers stay organized and updated in teaching styles and news going on in the teaching world. This could apply to me in my classes right now by learning how to use my resources to help me broaden my lesson plan ideas and find examples of rubrics and other tools I can use when I teach. This technology is kinda fun to learn just for my enjoyment. I dont think that if I didn't take this class I would have never been introduced to podcasts, blogs, or even building a website. This technology allows me and my colleauges to stay connected and collaborate between each other so that we can give each other ideas and maybe interact with each other to talk about students or happenings around the school.

Weekly Reflection #1

What:? I am learning how to create a website, how to stay connected with my fellow collegues without having to meet face to face so we can collaborate with each other to better connect with our students.  We are also learning that the internet is a great source of keeping myself organized and learning how to use my resources.

So What?  All of the things that I am learning so far like using the internet and google documents will help me to stay organized, connect with my fellow classmates and maybe future coworkers.  At first I didnt really think that I would use all of this for my PE class, but as I am learning more I can see some benefits of it and how it may be useful to me in the future.
Technology is amazing and to be able to research and find as much information that I can will be very useful to me as a teacher so that I can find ideas on lesson plans and how I can grade fairly using rubrics and other assessments to help my students retain their knowledge and expand their knowledge.

Now What?  What does this mean to my studetnts?  I find that this will be very useful to my future students.  Technology is only going to progess more and more as time goes on.  If I use these tools in my classroom I will be able to connect with my students to help them better understand the content that I am teaching them. I think that being able to have my own website may allow my students to do research projects and they will want to learn more about how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Students will be able to stay on top of assignments to make sure they are doing all they can to become a better student, not only in my class but in their other classes and in the future.  Knowing how to incorporate technology will help me be more knowledgable about my content area, be organized which is very important and stay connected with other PE teachers to help me develop as a teacher.

   I am still trying to find ways to incorporate technology into a Physical Education class. I know that there are probably some lessons out there that can provide students with the opportunity to research health and fitness subjects, but I think that the main focus of a PE class is to be able to participate in the actual activity without having to write or create any kind of written work.
  I personally will probably use UEN in my future because it provides many types of resources to better teach my students.  It has a lot of ideas for lesson plans and ways to incorporate other content areas to help broaden the knowledge of my students.
  The core curriculum page is an awesome tool that I know I will be using in my future classroom because it helps my plan my lessons and it guides me to make sure that I am teaching my students what needs to be taught while allowing me to see what the main fitness focus is for the general population of school children.
 The interactive sites were a fun tool to look at and it had a lot of good wholesome activities for students to play.  But as a  PE teacher I would rather my students be able to go outside and be involved in physical activities.  But as an alternate to fun and enjoyment, these interactive sites are very useful because they not only are fun but the also help build knowledge and understanding of different content areas.
